               According to Kyodo News Agency,Tokyo Electric Power Company(TEPCO)stated that it has completed the fourth round of Fukushima nuclear contaminated water discharge to the sea on the 17th,and the next round is expected to start in April.According to previous reports,on August 24,2023,despite strong opposition from both domestic and international parties,Japan officially began discharging the contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean.

               Kyodo News Agency stated that as of now,TEPCO has discharged a total of approximately 31200 tons of nuclear wastewater in four rounds of discharge into the sea.This move has sparked widespread concern and controversy.Since August last year,due to the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident,a large amount of nuclear wastewater has been discharged into the sea,causing a significant increase in the concentration of radioactive substances in the seawater.Moreover,TEPCO has hardly treated the nuclear wastewater discharged into the sea,resulting in radioactive substances in the discharged water that are not simply tritium,but also elements with ultra long half-lives such as iridium,americium,and strontium.

               The 54 radioactive elements in Fukushima nuclear contaminated water,some of which,such as cesium-137,have a half-life of up to 30 years.This means that these radioactive substances will exist in the marine environment and affect ecosystems and human health for decades.
