Magnesia-carbon brick is made of high melting point alkaline oxide magnesium oxide (melting point 2800℃) and high melting point carbon material which is difficult to be penetrated by slag as raw materials, adding various non-oxide additives. A non-carboniferous composite refractory combined with a carbonaceous binder.

Production technology

Conventional magnesium-carbon bricks made with synthetic tar binders by the cold mixing process harden and gain the necessary strength during tar damage, thus forming isotropic glassy carbon. This carbon does not show thermoplasticity, which can remove a lot of stress in time during baking or operation of the lining. Magnesia carbon brick made with asphalt binder has high high temperature plasticity due to the anisotropic graphitized coke structure formed in the process of asphalt carbonization.

As a kind of composite refractory material, magnesia carbon brick effectively utilizes magnesia's strong slag resistance and carbon's high thermal conductivity and low expansibility to compensate for the biggest shortcomings of magnesia's poor spudding resistance. Its main characteristics are: good high temperature resistance, slag resistance, thermal shock resistance, low creep at high temperature.

application

Magnesia carbon brick is mainly used in converter, AC arc furnace, DC arc furnace lining, ladle slag line and other parts.
