How Does an Alkaline Water Filter Work?

27 Feb.,2024

Alkaline water has become increasingly popular in recent times, but what is it? In this article, you'll discover how an alkaline water filter works and how to test your water pH.

What is Alkaline?

Alkaline refers to the pH level of your water. The common pH scale ranges from 1-14, 1 is super acidic and 14 is very alkaline. Alkaline water helps keep your body at its proper pH level even with an acidic lifestyle.

The water coming out of most kitchen taps is usually about 7pH. If water is lower than that, we urge people to do whatever they can to raise that to 7 or above.

More recently, with the popularisation of alkaline diets (thanks to Elle Macpherson), many people aim to create water that is much higher than that for all the health benefits.

Alkaline water is great for your body and the energy you get will make you wish you had extra time in the day. The smaller size of H2O Clusters allows for more efficient digestion, which means quicker hydration with enhanced energy from its oxygen-rich molecules!

Why is Alkaline Water So Important?

Drinking acidic water can put unnecessary stress on the body, which has the potential to lead to health conditions. This is because the minerals that are inside the body are broken down in order to elevate the water up to a neutral pH.

As the body toils away to make the water more alkaline, it can leave the actual body more acidic and under a considerable amount of unnecessary stress. There are many reasons why alkaline water is important, and we encourage you to check out more.

You can use pH strips to test the pH or chlorine level of your pool, spa and even your saliva. Now it's time to find out how an alkaline filter works.

How Does an Alkaline Water Filter Work?

While some water filters work on depositing minerals back into the water after regular filtration, other filters include ionisers which use a process called electrolysis to separate the incoming water stream into acidic and alkaline parts.

Water filters are great at removing things from water, and sometimes the good stuff goes too (especially when using a Reverse Osmosis system).

We ALWAYS recommend the use of an alkaline filter when using Reverse Osmosis.

In many cases, water coming out of a rainwater tank is acidic too. Read more about understanding the water coming out of your rainwater tank.

Testing your water pH

You may like to test your water first.

If so we offer a great way to do that with our pH strips.

Simply take a 15ml sample of your water and add 1-2 drops of the solution into the sample. The colour of the solution is then matched to the colour chart for an accurate pH and chlorine level reading.

Drink Up!

We hope this helps you move closer to achieving the ideal health you’ve always desired.
